The Youth Exchange “ECOPHOTO” connected 35 young people from 7 Countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria) in Puglia with the aim to increase awareness about environmental issues among young people and to provide space to discuss global environmental challenges, their local impact and work together to create tools for raising awareness on those issues in their communities.
The tool of the Youth Exchange is photography that promoted creativity among participants, create an encouraging space for youth to freely express, share opinions and learn from each other. Aim of this tool was to develop among youngsters new knowledge, competences and skills.
Methods used included taking photos in communities, creative presentations, simulation, discussions, workshops on quality in photography, street and nature photography, developing skills in eco-campaigns, event management, meeting with local authorities that work to preserve environment like WWF Policoro and KiteSurf Taranto.
Output of this project has been the outdoor exibithion where selected photos have been shared with larger public and a big intercultural, green, youth manifestation has been organized by the participants themselves to spread positive messages among the locals to improve their sensibility about environmental issues and active participation.
